Dr. Nimisha Kumar is a Senior Consultant Psychologist and trained Cognitive Behavioural Therapist based in New Delhi. She holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Delhi and an MSc in CBT, along with a PG Certificate in Clinical Supervision from the University of Derby, UK — earned as a Commonwealth Scholar in 2003.
Dr. Kumar is the Founder & Director of Ascend-PsyCare, a private mental health enterprise based in Delhi, and a Professor at the Faculty of Behavioural & Social Sciences, SGT University, Gurugram. She is also President of the Asian CBT Association (ACBTA).
With over 20 years of experience in clinical practice, teaching, training and research, Dr. Kumar has worked at prestigious institutions including AIIMS, Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), Jamia Millia Islamia, and Sitaram Bhartia Institute in New Delhi. She organized the first-ever CBT conference in India — ICCBI 2015 — which led directly to the founding of IACBT, and co-chaired the 8th Asian CBT Congress held at AIIMS, New Delhi in 2024.
She has authored papers in indexed and refereed journals, presented at national and international conferences, and mentored numerous Masters and Doctoral research dissertations.
